The WHC will join with others on Saturday, August 2, from 3–5 p.m. for “Love Thy Neighbor,” a community event at City Hall Plaza [76 East High St.] in Springfield. Organizers plan for an uplifting afternoon of unity, compassion, and support for Springfield’s immigrant community—particularly our Haitian neighbors facing immigration uncertainty.
The peaceful gathering will feature speakers, singing, and a shared message of solidarity. Attendees are encouraged to bring positive, uplifting signs as a visible show of the community’s caring spirit.
In addition to raising awareness, organizers are collecting donations of diapers and wipes to support local families with young children. All donations will be distributed through area food banks.
“This is about standing together as the Caring Majority—bringing light, love, and support to our neighbors,” organizers shared.
The event is open to all. Families, friends, co-workers, youth groups, and community members are encouraged to attend and show that Springfield stands for compassion, inclusion, and hope.
