If you’ve ever thought about singing with us — now is the time. The World House Choir is accepting new singers on Monday, August 10. Choir rehearsals are held each Monday from 7-8:30 pm at the Foundry Theater [920 Corry St., Yellow Springs] on the
campus of Antioch College.
All new singers are asked to arrive at 6:00pm on Monday August 10 for orientation and voice placement.
This upcoming block of rehearsals is in preparation for our fall concert entitled, “Study War No More.” Concert dates are November 13, 14, and 15. We will be joining forces with James Johnston and the YS Community Chorus and Orchestra to perform Ralph Vaughn Williams’ “Dona Nobis Pacem” [Grant Us Peace] one of the most moving and powerful choral works ever written. Composed on the eve of World War II, this dramatic 40-minute cantata weaves together the words of Walt Whitman, the Old Testament, and the Latin Mass to create an urgent plea for peace in a world torn apart by war. Its message is as timely and compelling today as when it was first performed.
The World House Choir sings to uplift and inspire. We work to build community and strive to sing music that connects us to issues of equality, justice, and peace. All voice parts are welcomed although we are especially looking for tenors and basses. Whether you’re a novice, an experienced singer, or returning to choral music after time away, we welcome you.
On site childcare is offered on an “as needed” basis. If you need childcare, please email Abby at abbyinthevale@gmail.com before we begin on August 10.
