The World House Choir will participate in the annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration in Yellow Springs on Monday January 16 at 11:00am in Antioch College’s Foundry Theater, 920 Corry St, Yellow Springs. We will perform His Light Still Shines, a work for narrator, chorus, tenor, and piano.
The work is composed of traditional arrangements of African American Spirituals woven together with poignant words about Dr. King by the composer, Moses Hogan. Guest tenor Dr. John Wesley Wright will sing solos. We will also lead the assembled congregation in singing Hine ma tov, a Jewish hymn that means “behold and how pleasing it is if brothers (people) live together in unity.”
We will also perform His Light Still Shines for King Day celebrations at two area prisons.
- Saturday, January 14, we appear with KUJI Men’s Chorus at Marion Correctional in a well-rounded choral and congregational program, Bishop Todd O’Neal on keyboards.
- January 23 we will perform a King program at London Correctional with UBUNTU Men’s Chorus. Cincinnati City Councilman, Wendell Young, who is a retired Cincinnati Police Officer, will be the guest speaker.
