Vernetta Willett is a native Chicagoan who moved to Yellow Springs in 2011. She joined the World House Choir at its beginning.
Vernetta studied both voice and piano at the American Conservatory of Music, the Chicago Conservatory of Music and the VanderCook College of College of Music. Vernetta also sings with the Jeremy Winston Chorale (JWC) based in southwest Ohio. In 2012, the JWC participated in the World Choir Games in Cincinnati and was awarded a gold and two silver medals.
Finally, a special moment in her singing career came in 2012 when the JWC sang at the White House Christmas Party and she met the President and First Lady. World House Choir audiences have enjoyed Vernetta’s solos on Stevie Wonder’s “Love’s In Need of Love Today,” and other pieces.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A WHC MEMBER: That the choir is a community of song.
