Make no mistake, we will not turn back, we will not be deterred, we will not bow down, nor will we “obey in advance.”
You may ask–what will we do? We will stay united, we will stay strong. We will increase, intensify, and embolden our agitation. We will get proximate to neighbors we’ve yet to meet in this emerging mass resistance movement. We will march for women’s lives, for the lives of LGBTQ people, for immigrants who continue to get the job done, for the lives of Black people who bear the brunt and burden of our peculiar and unrelenting form of apartheid. We have a moral commitment to stand up for those who cannot speak for themselves.
All great movements for social change have been ignited and invigorated by the arts, especially the power of song. Our voices raised in song can drown out the lies, the chaos, the assaults, the hatred, the erasure.
Our mission is to spread joy, love, to sing out, to appreciate beauty and difference. We want to remember our history, a history that’s had women’s victories, labor victories, and civil rights victories. We want nurture one another to keep on having victories. So there will be singing, lots of singing, because that is what the World House Choir does. We are all about diversity, equality/equality and inclusion.
