The World House Choir will join with Springfield’s Haitian Community Alliance for a “Celebration of Unity” on Saturday January 4 from 5-9pm at the Metropolis of Springfield, located at 102 West High Street in Springfield.
The event recognizes the January 1 Haitian Independence Day holiday and will include singing by the World House Choir as well as performances from Haitian singers, dancers and panelists.
Following the concert, all are invited to share a meal of Haitian food including soup joumou, a pumpkin soup traditionally eaten on Haitian Independence Day.
Your attendance at the “Celebration of Unity” will show that the Haitian community in Springfield has many supporters and encourage members of that community to stay and help continue the revitalization of Springfield.
All are welcome, admission is free. Donations gratefully accepted.

Harriet Joseph from Springfield’s Haitian Community Alliance works with our director, Catherine Roma, to teach us the Creole Haitian National Anthem at a recent choir rehearsal.
