Following up on the first post I wrote last time I discovered the following event:
The Concert Across America to End Gun Violence, September 25, 2016.
The post continued: On Sunday September 25, 2016, we will remember the victims of America’s gun violence epidemic with the Concert Across America, a series of live events across the United States.
The organizers ask
WHY MOBILIZE WITH MUSIC?
The power of music to reach far and wide has fueled countless important movements in recent decades. Now is the time to turn up the music to turn down the hateful rhetoric that has become a hallmark of the gun debate.
This event coincides with the observance of the UN International Day of Peace, celebrated internationally every year on September 21. Violence undermines every aspect of our existence. We ingest violence as part of our daily diet, in our spoken word, in our everyday actions. We read violence, we seek violence; it is literally what we entertain day in and day out.
So, on Sunday September 25, let us mount a monumental concert across America. Let us show up and sing to the tune of Pat Humphries song:“Keep on Moving Forward:”
We’re gonna fight to stop gun violence, fight to stop gun violence, fight to stop gun violence, never turning back, never turning back.
We’re gonna stand up to the gun lobby, stand up to the gun lobby, stand up to the gun lobby, never turning back, never turning back.
