The World House Choir welcomes new singers on Monday, July 10, as we prepare for our September concert, Together We Bring on the Light, which will be performed in Yellow Springs on Friday and Saturday September 8 and 9, at 7:00pm and at Wayman Chapel AME in West Dayton on Sunday September 10, at 2:00pm.
We rehearse Monday evenings at 7:00 at the Foundry Theater [920 Corry St] on the Campus of Antioch College. New members should come at 6:30 on Monday July 10 for a short orientation. Singers do not have to read music, but do have to match pitch and should have a good ear. The World House Choir welcomes all voices and especially welcomes new tenors and basses to join us as we raise up a joyful noise for justice.
Our September concerts will feature guest artist, Melanie DeMore. Melanie, a vocal activist who comes to us from Oakland, California, will teach us Gullah rhythms on stamping sticks that we will use for one piece in the concert. She will also teach and lead community singing with the audience. As always, we will perform an eclectic mix of choral music; add to this Melanie’s warm, engaging style that entices everyone to sing together and you have the ingredients for an exciting, vibrant night of inclusion called Together We Bring on the Light.
The choir offers free on-sight childcare at rehearsals. The concerts will be signed for the hearing impaired. The rehearsal space is wheelchair accessible.
